ActionAid, Giriki, Uganda.

On Wednesday 15th February 2012 a new school was opened in Giriki, Kween District in the Mount Elgon region. The ‘Greek River primary school’ was funded by Actionaid. The school is the only one in the area, and has around 700 children in attendance. The area has seen many people returning after previously being displaced for many years by cattle rustlers. The inhabitants had fled to the slopes of Mount Elgon to shelter from the rustlers and many are now returning to the area of their former homes.
